RICCARDO
Many of us remind her the so little Nebyat when in 2006 she joined the “Day after day”, the sweet smiled Nebyat with her little woman face.
Nebyat is the first great result of our project. This year she passed the 12th grade school with good results, so in October the Ethiopian educational institutions have welcomed her in the College of Business and Economics at the Addis Ababa University.
Nebyat is a quiet girl, polite, clean, always dressed with care even with simple clothes. She is nice girl, not only exteriorly.
Indeed, for three years, Nebyat not only attended our “Day after day” Center but she was a full-fledged mother: she is fatherless and took care for her older brother and elder sister in the absence of their mother.
Her mother was forced to leave Mekellè to get a job to pay the house rent so Nebyat had to be responsible for their home, the only room where they lived together.
Nebyat has certainly suffered, but with his quietness she never asked us for anything. When we saw her in trouble because she was not attending school to look after her home, we helped her till she slowly found the best time to get back to school.
In these last 2 years, her life was a climb but she has always carried on collecting good results at school. So in September a good new arrived: Nebyat passed the last year exams with excellent grades.
At the beginning of October she came back to DAD and stayed every day to organize her departure for the College in Addis Ababa. She asked us for a suitcase and a blanket and it was a pleasure for us to help her preparing her bag and giving her things that could be useful.
Her older friends at “Day after day” wanted to say goodbye and Nebyat hugged them said: “Remember do the right things. I’ll be waiting for you in Addis”.
