Our September mission was a little special.
We set off to check on the condition of heart patients who have undergone surgery and are living thanks to our support of medicines and food supplies. We went also to implant 10 pacemakers for 10 patients waiting for them, not only in Mekelle but also in other cities.
One of the beneficiaries of the pacemaker implant, a 75-year-old man living in Mekelle, expressed his sincere gratitude to the staff of Ayder Hospital and Save A Life4Life, saying that he felt as if he had been given a second chance at life.
Words like these make our work worthwhile, and we were pleasantly surprised by the day organised by Ayder Hospital to thank the entire Save a Life4Life team, which began supporting the hospital in 2008 when the facility was still in its infancy and lacked qualified staff and equipment.
We were also interviewed for a Tigray television report on the free procedures that, thanks to the pacemakers implanted, made it possible to treat the arrhythmia of 10 patients at Ayder Hospital.
