Pacemaker a life-saving device

Cardiology

At a time when Ayder Hospital in Mekelle is not functioning due to war damage that has knocked out most of the equipment, we thought how urgent it is to implant pacemakers. For some of our patients it is a way to save their lives.

To implant the devices you need a still-functioning luminance amplifier in an operating room, and that, over there, is not so obvious.

We started implanting pacemakers in 2013, and now most of the “batteries” are being drained. We were warned that there are at least 20 heart patients, including young ones, waiting for a life-saving device to be implanted.

So we purchased 15 devices from Metdronik that we will take on an upcoming trip together with good operators, both doctors and nurses, who work in our hospitals with high standards.
